Children's Religious Education

The 10:30 Catholic Community offers a unique opportunity for young Catholics to explore and develop their religious life in a creative, open-minded environment.

Our primary points of emphasis are…

1) Spirituality. We practice and study classic prayers such as the Lord’s Prayer every class. More uniquely, we stress that prayer should be fun, meaningful, and personalized for each student. With this is mind, students talk to God in their own voices, and through nontraditional forms such as sacred art and meditation.

2) Ecumenicalism and broad religious understanding. We look at the world through the eyes of Roman Catholics with love and curiosity.  Therefore, in addition to studying the Catholic tradition, we explore similarities and differences with other religions and ideas from the secular world.

3) Social justice and personal ethics. Doing the right thing is both social and personal. We stress the importance of mindfully reflecting moral truth in our own lives. We also emphasize developing an individual point of view toward the world around us.

Above all else our classes are fun and interactive! All lessons culminate in creative projects. Sometimes this means an art project; sometimes it’s a play, or a poem, etc. Our classes aren't just for learning a few Bible stories; their aim is to encourage students to develop a meaningful religious life that they continue to find enriching long after they move on from our classes.

In addition to our regular meetings, we hold annual preparatory classes for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. These Sacraments are celebrated by area clergy and recognized by the Archdiocese of Denver and the greater Roman Catholic Church.
