Las Familias formed in February 2020 as an ecumenical outreach group of young
families of Ten-Thirty Community. The group is composed of several families with
young children ages 2–10 and one newly-married couple. The group met twice in
person before COVID arrived, and is now meeting every other week in Spirit-open
solidarity and mutual action support via Zoom, honoring social distancing
guidelines.
The group builds connections with each other from their shared and growing social
and cultural awareness and practices for social and environmental justice. A key
focus, while raising their families and carrying on their work lives, is to support each
other in this era of deep change, imparting their insights, values and practices to
their children.
